We may be biased as Greek islands are out passion, but if you were ever hoping for a systematic look at how the Greek isles actually compare to other destinations across the globe, this might just be the best category you’ll find. Generally Greek island directory tries to limit its scope and purview to islands and how they are categorised amongst eachother, but this is one programmatic query I didn’t want to miss for personal reason because Greek islands to me are the ultimate destination and now for the first time, you and I can actually explore whether that reality holds true.

It’s quite easy to be caught up in the appeal of Greek islands. When we hear those two words in that order many of us are transported by the painting we saw in the local taverna in our home town to Santorini. Those of us on social media see travel itinerary blasted across X, Instagram, Facebook and YouTube pretty much every day, day and night. I won’t lie, if you can’t already tell Greek islands are my thing and I do consider myself one of the modern day digital experts. But that bias is born out of passion. To me Crete is that island that comes to mind but there were others I explored first.
But where else? – Greece isn’t the only place with islands obviously, but I will say if you wanted to tick every box, Greece basically does that… “What the hell are you on about?” – Hear me out; Why do we obsess over islands? What’s your reason? Because if you think islands are purely a travel destination during central European winters then you are totally wrong. Islands do one thing really well: They require access. They keep people in and they keep people out. Think of that what you will, but if you approach island life from say, the perspective of a digital nomad, or maybe a political prisoner, or maybe someone searching for isolation from the rest of the world, then you can begin to appreciate the theory behind the audience size.
You may be here for travel and holiday reasons, but doomsday preppers, people running from something, people needing peace or a long-term settlement are also browsing alongside you, and that’s where this category comes in hand; Don’t just assume the Greek islands offer something – but – see how they compare to other similar locations across the globe, you may find your desires are elsewhere – Mikali.
