The category problem
I might take this opportunity to vent here about how difficult it was to start this project from an ontological perspective. I created the Greek island directory in late february and the goal was simply to map out categories that I myself thought would be important. Things like ATM access, connectivity and even road quality are what came to mind. But after launching the domain and going live on 21 April 2026, I came to find out noone was searching for any of that. I had 5 clicks and about 500 impressions after two weeks. Not great, not terrible.
Naturally everything changed when I made a page that was actually being searched for. It was never my intention to actually use google as a cheat sheet. But thats what keyword research is about: building stuff people are looking for. Naturally we arrived here today with the directory in its current form; dozens of categories across countless domains, which naturally includes this category which is vague in itself but necessary.
