Best Greek islands for quad bikes
Best Greek islands for quad bikes are islands where the roads turn to dust, where dirt tracks cut to hidden beaches, hilltop churches and viewpoints no car wants to try, where a quad is the easy, breezy way to cover the whole island.

They are islands where quad bikes set you loose, with morning map-pointing, dusty beach-hopping, cliff stops and taverna breaks in between, and that wind-blown, sun-beaten, go-anywhere feeling of having the island to yourself.

Who it suits and why
This is for travellers who want to explore without worrying about bus times or hiring a full car. The best Greek islands for quad bikes suit couples and groups who want something a bit adventurous in the day, but still easy and casual. It’s led by Corfu, because you can base yourself in Sidari or Paleokastritsa and spend the day hopping between small bays on quiet back lanes, with olive groves in between. Zakynthos is brilliant for it too, the roads down to Cameo Island, Keri cliffs and Banana Beach are perfect for quads and you can get to viewpoints that big cars struggle with. Milos is ideal because the best beaches, like Sarakiniko, Papafragas and Paleochori, are linked by dusty tracks that are much more fun on a quad than in a car. Paros and Antiparos work really well together, you can take the little ferry across with the quad and do an 8 kilometre loop around Antiparos with almost no traffic. Then you’ve got Lefkada for the west coast road from Agios Nikitas to Milos and Kathisma beach, Naxos for the inland villages from Chora up to Apeiranthos, and Crete around Elounda and Plaka where the coastal roads are flat, wide and sea-view the whole way. It’s perfect if you want to cover 20 to 40 kilometres in a day, stop whenever you see a taverna or a beach, and not worry about parking. It’s less suited to you if you want proper off-roading or late-night clubbing only. Quads aren’t for mountain climbing or for getting from Mykonos beach clubs at 6am — they’re capped at around 50 to 60k, and most rentals ask you to stick to tarmac and light dirt tracks.
What to keep in mind
For quad bikes, it’s all about where you’re based and who you rent from. Most of the islands have direct UK flights from May to October, around three hours ten to four hours thirty, or a quick hop through Athens, and ferries from Piraeus are usually two to nine hours and 40 to 95 euro if you’re island hopping. The best time to ride is late May to early October. You’ll get warm seas and dry tracks, but in July and August it gets really hot, around 30 to 36 degrees, so it’s much nicer to head out before eleven or after five when the sun is lower and the roads are quieter. On the ground, a quad is typically 30 to 55 euro a day, depending on the cc, with most places asking for a driving licence and a deposit. Fuel is extra but cheap, ten euro will usually cover a full day of beach hopping. Wear trainers rather than flip flops, take sunglasses for the dust, especially in Milos and Zakynthos, and bring a small bag for water and a beach towel. Stay close to where you want to ride. Sidari in Corfu for the north coast bays, Laganas in Zakynthos for the south, Adamas in Milos for Sarakiniko and the west, Parikia in Paros for the Antiparos ferry, Nidri in Lefkada for the west coast beaches, and Chania or Elounda in Crete for flat coastal runs. Stick to tarmac and marked tracks, avoid the super sandy stretches, and book a day or two ahead in August because good quads go quickly. Go in early June or September and you’ll get empty tracks, easy parking right above the beaches, and a much more relaxed ride than in high summer.
