Greek island Directory Tools
Although we were originally incepted to be a Directory centred around Greek island-related queries, useful tools for users that actually add value and interactivity have always come to mind. Below you can find two such tools. They exist for people who have decided that want to choose a Greek island based on their own specific needs or constraints.

Why use tools to choose a Greek island?
Blogs do one thing really well; they tell you what they think. Greek island Directory.com does not care for what a blogger said in 2024 about Crete, or in 2025 about Corfu, we are the number one evidence based repository of Greek island queries. Want Greek islands with the best beaches? Blogs and Guides will follow the hype, a tiktok video, maybe a news article and then give you the same 20 islands in a slightly different order than the last post.
We’re different. Greek island Directory.com uses evidence, sources and will analyze geography, geology, ELSTAT and census data- everything, you name it – to come to the most accurate conclusion so that you get what you are actually searching for. This means that when you want to use the Greek island picker, or the comparison tool, you can trust the results are accurate and rooted in evidence and integrity, not someones last trip to Mykonos in 2019, or what their yiayia said in 2003 about Lesbos being for just lesbians.
Editorial note
The idea for these tools was on the agenda as soon as we begun work on the site offline in February 2026. The goal was ultimately to create a full cross-sectional filter table whereby all islands would be assigned tags and vetted individually against those for evidence and scoring. After completing the 6th or 7th island with 4 integrity passes we and realised that much of the data itself was wrong or made up (Wikipedia often states islands are uninhabited, or the opposite), so the framework was abandoned. This decision was cemented when I realised I was comparing islands across 46 metrics, most of which did not matter to travellers or residents; things like Sea Group or Dialect, aren’t on travellers minds. Furthermore, the island shortlist of 97 inhabited islands was expanded when more were found (see: The myth of 227 Inhabited Greek islands) and popular uninhabited and abandoned islands were added, taking us to 125.
Enter Meta AI in July 2026, and I was bouncing around with ideas about how to actually get my existing data across 725 articles into a simple endogenous system that would allow real-time executing without scripting, JSON, Java or CSV’s. As it turns out, you can ask Meta (and probably the other LLM’s) to write the code for you whilst also integrating the data I had, on-demand. The result? Two highly dynamic HTML blocks. But the truth is, the comparison tool much more complex than the Greek island picker and required dozens of revisions, it didn’t even work on mobile until July 25.
