Ideal if you want myths carved in marble not just sun loungers.
Less suited to those who want only party beaches with no ruins. If you want beach clubs till 4am and no climbing temples, islands like Delos with no overnight stays and no beach clubs and Samothrace with wild rivers will feel too archaeological and quiet.
What to keep in mind
Myth islands are mostly Cyclades and Aegean with ferry access. Delos is uninhabited day trip only with boats 9am to 1pm from Mykonos 30 minutes cost 25 to 35 euro return plus 12 euro entry, Ikaria has 1 hour flights from Athens or 7 hour ferry from Piraeus, Naxos and Paros have 3 to 5 hour ferries from Athens 40 to 70 euro, Rhodes has direct UK flights 4 to 4 hours 30 May to October, Lemnos has 1 hour flight from Athens, Samothrace 2 hours ferry from Alexandroupoli. Best myth visiting April to June and September to October when sites 8am to 8pm are cooler.
On the ground pair myth with beach nearby. Sleep Mykonos for Delos, Agios Kirykos for Ikaria thermals, Chora Naxos for Zeus trail up Mount Zas 2 hours, Parikia Paros for Aphrodite sanctuary, Rhodes Town for Helios Lindos day trip, Myrina Lemnos for Hephaestus forge beach, and Samothrace for sanctuary hike. Book guided myth tours early morning, carry water and hat for exposed ruins, and check archaeological site closures Mondays and winter hours November to March 8am to 3pm.
