Least touristy Greek islands
Least touristy Greek islands are islands where development has stayed small and local, where there are no big resorts or cruise ports, just low stone houses, a handful of simple guesthouses, and harbours where the day’s main event is the afternoon ferry arriving with supplies.

They are islands where you find space and silence easily, with wild, unorganized beaches reached by footpaths, hillsides dotted with abandoned windmills and grazing goats, tavernas where the menu is spoken not written, and nights defined by cicadas, sea breezes and conversation rather than music and crowds, creating that rare, unfiltered feeling of Greece as it used to be.

Who it suits and why
Best for travellers who want the quiet side of Greece. These islands suit those who love slow mornings, wild beaches and village life – headed by Anafi, Donoussa, Irakleia, Schinoussa, Kimolos, Sikinos, Kassos, Kastellorizo and Fourni where even in August you can have a cove to yourself. Ideal if you want family tavernas, harbours with three fishing boats and nights with no clubs or queues.
Less suited to those who want convenience and choice. If you want direct flights, luxury resorts, hundreds of restaurants, beach clubs, guided tours and buzzing nightlife, these least touristy islands will feel too remote, too basic and too limited.
What to keep in mind
Least touristy means less connected and more seasonal. None have international airports, so you fly to Athens or a hub with 3 to 4.5 hour UK flights May to October then take ferries of 4 to 12 hours, often only 2 to 4 times a week, and accommodation is small guesthouses and rooms open May to late September.
On the ground be prepared. Buses are rare or non-existent, ATMs and pharmacies may be single and close for siesta, and beaches are unorganised with no sunbeds, bars or shade. Bring cash, water and sun cover, and note that high winds can cancel ferries and outside summer almost everything shuts down.
