Exclusive Greek islands

Exclusive Greek islands

Exclusive Greek islands are for when you want to feel truly away from it all, with quiet harbours, private-feeling beaches, high-end villas tucked into the hillside, and a calm, unhurried atmosphere where you can unwind without crowds or any sense of being on show.

This guide compares each island based on exclusivity, privacy, atmosphere, beaches, and luxury accommodation to find places that feel genuinely secluded and special, with enough refinement and comfort for a proper high-end escape rather than just a fashionable name on a map.

Who it suits and why

Best for travellers who want privacy and space. These islands suit those who value private villas with staff, five-star resorts tucked into quiet bays, beach clubs where beds are reserved, and harbours where you can eat without a crowd. Ideal for high-end honeymoons, family buyouts and low-profile escapes.

Less suited to those who want lively, social, or budget travel. If you want lots of bars, shops, sandy beaches with easy access, and studios and tavernas you can walk into with no booking, a more mainstream island will be more fun and better value.

What to keep in mind

Exclusivity means limited supply and very high prices. The best villas and suites with private pools book out 10 to 12 months ahead for June to September, and July and August rates can be three to four times higher than May and October, before private transfers, boat hire and minimum spends are added.

Many exclusive islands are small, hilly and seasonal. UK direct flights usually only run April to October, and some islands have no airport at all and need a private transfer or ferry. Villages can have many steps and no car access, and cars, drivers, beach beds and dinner tables all need to be pre-booked in peak weeks.
